Whilst this year’s British Open
Whilst this year’s British Open Speedgolf title went to Irishman Rob Hogan whose Speedgolf Score (Time + Strokes) was the lowest over the two days of competition, it was another player who set the fastest pace.
Jamie Taylor-Caldwell broke records at the event by smashing the ‘fastest round’ accolade by completing an 18-hole round in just 29 minutes and 32 seconds which is an astonishing pace, playing with just 1 club ( a 7 Iron). This is the fastest time ever recorded at any official Speedgolf tournament. In all, 5 competitors broke the 40-minute mark during the tournament for their 18 hole rounds, which is simply extraordinary.
Whilst Rob's fastest round wasn't much slower at 34 minutes 47 seconds he also shot just 75 strokes on the PAR 72 course set up for 6100 yards at The Springs Golf Club in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. George Boxall also came home in 33 minutes and 45 seconds.
Who said golf had to be slow!
