Steelers Draft News: 2023 NFL Draft, 2nd Round, 49th Pick overall - the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have selected Keeanu Benton, defensive line from Wisconsin football.
NFL Draft scouting report (via analysts at The Athletic, Chat Sports, PFF and The Ringer):
Benton has a thick lower body and trunk with a massive wingspan, carries his 315-pound frame very well with short-area quickness to close, and has outstanding big-man balance. Benton has powerful hands to mash centers into the backfield and improved feel for leverage, slide protections, and blocking anticipation as a pass rusher. He is technically advanced at the point of attack and his wrestling background shows up on the football field. Benton's weaknesses include his taller stature and high pads, which can leave him lost in the wash, and his inconsistent pad level hinders his ability to collect himself and break down as a tackler in the backfield. In 2022, he had 36 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.
