My appearance on Charles Grodin that got me banned because of Jerry Seinfeld's complaint

Andy Lack, then head of CNBC was incensed Charles Grodin had me on (my usual segment) before Jerry Seinfeld. The report in the trades the next day complained Chuck had his "high school friend" on prior to the megastar - (um, no, 20 years apart) and I was banned from appearing on the show ever again. (I was producing "man in the street" segments for the show, had signed on for 6 months after Luana's passing, so I found it amusing. My thumb continued to make appearances as I asked questions to people in Grand central or Times Square.) Note Jerry using the "mish-quise" punchline to complain to Chuck about "going on second" - I thought that was hilarious. Andy did not.  "He who laughs last laughs best." Vanum populatum.  By the way, I had written and directed "You Can't Hurry Love" six years prior to this appearance. Chuck appeared in the film as a favor, when he called to ask me to produce "man on the street" segments for the show, I returned that favor.
