This recording is taken from the 'Friday Night Show with Jonathan Ross' and is a truly great performance by the king of lyrics himself Morrissey! 'Everyday is like Sunday' is taken from Morrissey's first solo album 'Viva Hate' of which was his debut solo album and released in March 1988 by HMV Records. This was the 2nd single from the album and was released in May of the same year. It made number nine in the UK Singles Chart and remains to this day as one of his best-known songs. Morrissey has also been quoted as saying that there is 'something strangely depressing about a seaside town out-of-season' and that the lyrics were inspired by Nevil Shute's novel 'On the Beach' which, is about a group of people waiting for nuclear devastation in Melbourne, a beachside city in Australia. Morrissey has also said that the song was originally inspired after visiting the Welsh sea-side resort of Borth. In regards to this performance it must be said that its just pure genius how Morrissey starts with a shortened but amazing cover of 'Subway Train' by the 'New York Dolls' and then mixes it in with his timeless masterpiece 'Everyday is like Sunday'.
