Before the Pandemic, the Vancouver
Before the Pandemic, the Vancouver Downtown Eastside had faced many problems, including drug use, crime, poverty, homelessness, mental illness, vandalism and other problems. These problems have affected people in this area for many decades. Since the Pandemic, the situation has gotten much worse. Recently, more homeless people are living in an area where businesses are located.
Tell me what you think about the problems in the Downtown Eastside. Why is it happening? Who is responsible? Does this homeless problem exist in the area where you live? What can be done to solve these problems? Have you worked and lived in this area? I would be happy to hear your thoughts and comments.
Recent reviews on Tripadvisor have been really negative about our city of Vancouver. People are advising tourist to avoid different areas of the city, including Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside nearby.
"You have walking dead roaming the streets", agrees Jordan Eng, with one of the reviews on Tripadvisor, who compared people in the area to the "walking dead". Jordan Eng is the president of Chinatown BIA.
In my video, I'm saying the Pandemic has made the situation worse. I'm not saying the Pandemic has caused the problems.
