The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is an intergovernmental treaty signed by 184 countries or contracting parties, whose goal is to protect the world's plant resources from invasive pests and to promote safe trade of agricultural products. The Convention adopts and promotes the application of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) as the main set of tools to achieve its goals, making it the sole global standard setting organization for plant health.
IPPC’s mission is to protect global plant resources and facilitate safe trade.
Its vision is that the spread of plant pests is minimized and their impacts within countries are effectively managed.
Its overarching goal is that all countries have the capacity to implement harmonized measures to reduce pest spread and minimize their impact on, trade, economic growth, and the environment.
IPPC is fully committed to forging ahead to addressing vital solutions and implementing goals to strengthen global phytosanitary systems for healthy plants, environmental protection, and combating world hunger for a healthier and brighter future.
