Arousal theory of Motivation

Yerkes Dodson law was proposed by psychologists Robert Yerkes (read as Yerk-ees) and John Dodson in 1908. This theory describes a clear relationship between pressure/stress and performance.
According to Yerkes Dodson law,
performance increases with physiological
or mental arousal/ stress but only upto a
certain point, known as optimal level.
When the level of the stress becomes too high performance decreases or dimnishes.
