Across Iran, from large cities to villages and nomadic regions, people engage in mourning ceremonies, recitations of lamentations, chest-beating, and chain-whipping to mourn. Grandmother's family, who are nomads in Iran, start preparing for these days as Muharram approaches. Grandmother loves Imam Hussein dearly and always cries for his oppression. Additionally, today the grandmother's family is busy completing the roof of the farmhouse using tar.
