God's announces the birth of Christ to a specific group of people in the story of Christmas. His announcement reveals that the gift of salvation through Christ Jesus is freely given to all who call on the Lord's name. The announcement of Christ's birth to the Shepherds is also a reminder that 1) Every day we are on a journey to grow closer to Christ, 2) When you have seen God's grace, it's your Christian duty to share it with the world, and 3) Even if God does not answer your prayer right away, rejoice in knowing that He is able.
