Cookie Monster's in charge of Hooper's Store, what could possibly go wrong?! Exactly. Originally aired on January 24, 1975 (Season 6), it's Episode 725 of the best darn kids show ever! With thanks and big hugs to Ingeborg Nordén aka @Just Looking!. Notes and links below, let's take a chomp outta this treat!
AUDIO WARNING! I've been alerted to a rather loud computer BONG! at around the 3:41 mark. Apologies to your ears. If it can be fixed, I'll reload and we shall never speak of it again ;-)
The real drawing card here is the main story. This was back in the good old days when Cookie Monster (Frank Oz) ate pretty much everything that wasn't nailed down. And he didn't care about his cholesterol! ;-) Left in charge when David (Northern Calloway) is called away to fix his mother's pipes, Cookie swears "monster's honor" that the cookies will be safe from his ravenous appetite. And they are. He just proceeds to eat the entire store! David's reaction at the end to finding the remains of the store is heart-breaking and hilarious.
REPEAT MUPPETS: Ernie (Jim Henson) & Bert (Frank Oz): Newspaper Expedition; Coach Ernie and his baseball team of three small balls wonder who the huge cap belongs to; The NO Sign w/Herry Monster (Jerry Nelson) tricking Ernie and Ernie trying to trick Bert; The Amazing Mumford (Jerry Nelson) and Grover (Frank Oz): 3 things that rhyme with "knee"; Twiddlebugs try to get to the zoo; ABC Conversation; Maria (Sonia Manzano) reads "The King's Problem".

TECH NOTE: The bars. I know. This is the best Ingeborg and I can do right now. I literally spent hours working with five different programs and could not lose the bars without sacrificing precious video quality and that just will not do.
