What I'm going to show you now, this is a conventional reel, okay? The difference being you have to really control this reel. Grab it differently, just open your hand, put it like that, thumb on the spool. Then throw this lever, now you're in free spool, that means if you take your thumb off, this spool is going to move because of your sinker, your weight on the other end.
The same casting motion, take your left hand, put it on the butt. Take it, put it back, then at 1 o'clock release the spool but keep the pressure on it, because if your don't it's going to be a mess. That's how you cast a conventional reel.
