I just bought an Austin Allegro to convert to electricity!

A few days ago I bought a 1977 Austin Allegro then drove it 1200 kilometres across New Zealand! It's been an amazing adventure with some beautiful scenery, filled with snow-capped mountains, wild beaches, rivers and pastures, so I hope you enjoy the stunning scenes in the first video.

The next step is to rip out the gutless British Leyland engine and replace it with an electric motor! It's gonna be a big adventure and it'll take some time, but I'm super excited.

Now this isn't unfamiliar territory to me, as many will remember that back in 2007 I brought home an old Mitsubishi Tredia and began the slow journey of converting that to battery power. It was a great success and I've I've wanted to do another EV conversion ever since!

In fact, when I moved to Florida I bought a 1982 Lada Niva to convert to electric power, but my ex-wife pulled the plug on that dream, so I returned home to New Zealand where I'm now FINALLY able to make this amazing project come to life.

It's been a long time coming and it's going to be an incredible adventure filled with learning and challenges, so get comfortable and get ready to enjoy the ride with me!
