The popular Toyota Yaris Cross compact SUV gets comprehensive updates for 2023, enhancing performance, technology, safety, and style to maintain its strong standing in the rapidly growing European B-SUV segment.
Headlining the changes is a more powerful hybrid powertrain now featured across the range. All high-grade versions, including the new Premiere Edition and GR SPORT trims, are equipped with the advanced Hybrid 130 system, part of Toyota’s latest fifth-gen hybrid tech. Total output rises 14% to 132 hp, slashing the 0-100km/h sprint by half a second to 10.7 seconds.
Further boosting driving pleasure are meaningful improvements in noise and vibration. Engine racket is reduced through a dynamic damper on the mount, an intake hose resonator, and better silencers. Acoustic glass for the windshield and side windows tames wind and road noise.
The Yaris Cross also ushers in a transformed digital experience focused on connectivity and personalization. The fully digital instrument cluster has customizable displays, while the touchscreen infotainment runs on a quicker processor with updated software. Cloud-based navigation and better voice recognition feature too. Both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
Also intro’d is a handy Smart Digital Key allowing owners to lock, unlock and start their Yaris Cross using a smartphone. Up to five separate devices can be registered, eliminating the need to fetch keys from pockets or bags.
One major area of improvement is safety, with cutting-edge Toyota T-Mate technology rolling out across the range. This includes the new Emergency Driving Stop System that gently stops the car and flashes the hazards if no driver input is detected for a while. Safe Exit Assist protects against door openings into approaching traffic.
Design tweaks on the outside are subtle, but the urbane new Urban Khaki paint distinguishes the range-topping Premiere Edition. Exclusive 18-inch alloys, a two-tone black roof, and special interior trim further differentiate this flagship variant.
