Point-of-view driving video of the 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV filmed during the CHERY’s World of Luxury Tour at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. This event gives people the opportunity to test drive different Chery crossover SUVs, from March 23 to 29, 2023. This was filmed on March 24. Impressions/observations during the test drive:
The exterior design of this is mostly similar with the Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6T, which gives out a luxury and premium vibe, combined with some sportiness. Its front end design gives it some amazing road presence with its LED light design and a sizeable front grille with a cool design too. Moving over into the inside, the interior materials are really high quality which makes this car even feel more premium. The seat also feels comfortable in itself, as it has good materials, power adjustments, and even a headrest that wraps around one's head. A good seat-related function is the front passenger seat's adjustability from the rear. This gives the car more luxurious vibes since this can be used if the rear passenger being chauffeured wants more space at the back. The 2nd row seats are also adjustable on their own. In the 3rd row, passengers won't feel neglected since there are still some good features there such as controllable A/C vents, storage bins, and good space too. Overall, this vehicle is large and spacious for passengers to be not cramped. The screens are all responsive to any input being given to it, which makes them easy to use. This is especially useful when going through different angles of the car's camera system, and moving around in the 3D mode of the said camera system. It is also to be noted that the quality of the camera is excellent. Even the A/C system has its own screen, just like in some new Range Rovers. With those said, the interior and exterior of this car is really amazing. The only things that the PHEV don't have, but the 1.6T do are power-operated liftgate and paddle shifters for manual mode because the transmission in the PHEV is different. The dashboard layout of the two has some differences with their design and overall layout too. They're both still distinctively Tiggo 8 interiors, though.
Compared to the 1.6T, this PHEV is more quiet even when fully accelerating which is why it feels less sporty than the former. When letting off the accelerator pedal after accelerating, some turbo sounds are a little audible, though. The engine and the electric system works together to move this crossover, and they do that task smoothly which helps ride comfort. Their power output is also not lacking, which makes this car quick. The steering is very light for a big crossover like this and is very easy to use when maneuvering. The accelerator and brake pedals of the car respond well to the driver's inputs which make the car inspiring to drive quickly when it is safe to do so. At very slow speeds though, it is noticeable that the brakes are just a bit non-linear with their activation. This car also provides for a pleasant ride because its suspension gives a smooth ride, and the noise insulation makes the interior quiet. The special hybrid transmission is very capable in giving both a comfortable efficient ride and a quicker-paced drive.
