29th Yun I Sang Concert Opens
Pyongyang, November 10 2010 (KCNA) -- The 29th Yun I Sang concert was opened.
An inaugural performance was given at the Yun I Sang Concert Hall on Wednesday.
Among the audience were Minister of Culture An Tong Chun, officials concerned, creators and artistes of national art organizations and teachers, researchers and students in the field of art education and working people.
Also among the audience were Yun's widow and daughter, a press corps of a music broadcasting company of Germany and others.
A speech was made by Han Chol, vice-minister of Culture.
He expressed belief that the concert which has been significantly held under the warm loving care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il who always remembers Yun would contribute to giving momentum to the desire of the Koreans for reunification.
Put on the stage were female solo "Do Prosper, My Motherland", duet for cello and harp, duet for viola and piano and violin concerto No. 3 composed by Yun and other numbers.
The concert given by artistes of the orchestra of the Yun I Sang Music Institute and various other art troupes was acclaimed by the audience for their high level of representation.
The concert will run through Nov. 12.

Yun Isang Music Institute
Pyongyang, July 1 1999 (KCNA) -- The Yun Isang Music Institute is a comprehensive music research centre that studies and plays mainly music pieces created by Yun Isang and the traditional Korean music, classical music and famous songs of different countries including those in Europe. The institute operating at the Pyongyang International House of Culture was founded on September 27, Juche 73 (1984). The institute houses Yun Isang music, traditional Korean music and foreign music research rooms, a creation room and editing and publication departments. The Yun Isang music research room makes researches into the technique to play both the traditional Korean music and European music on a stereophonic basis. The traditional Korean music research room is tasked to discover, study and preserve the heritage of Korean music. The foreign music research room collects and selects classical music of European countries and typical foreign folk songs and famous songs through a systematic study of them. The institute is staffed with a 150-member orchestra band and scores of part-time researchers. The institute publishes the magazine "music world". The state organizes the Yun Isang concert each year. Put on the concert's stage are such works as symphonic poems and cantatas created by Yun Isang. The Yun Isang concert and commemoration concerts on various subjects have taken place 17 times till now. In November Juche 87 (1998), the Pyongyang Yun Isang Concert for Reunification was held along with the symposium on Yun Isang music. The institute is now preoccupied with the study of new technique of execution and performances. Concerts are being regularly held four times each month, to the applause of audience. The institute is operating at the state's expense.
