City of Memphis Mayor Dick Hackett, along with the Memphis City Council and the County Mayor, proclaimed May 9th "Jerry Lawler Day" in Memphis and Shelby County in support of Lawler's upcoming match (on May 9, 1988) in which he defeated Curt Hennig for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship Title. (Did they know something we didn't know?) Well, anyway... Hail to The KING!
