🌞 October does not want to dress in warm clothes, and begged the weather for another week of true summer sun. In such weather, most of us want to go for a walk 🚶🏻♂️. And what could be better than a walk through one of the most popular and visited cities in the world, Paris? This time we will walk along two famous streets of Paris in the city center: avenue Marceau and avenue George-V.
➡️ The Avenue Marceau is an avenue in Paris, France, marking the boundary between its 8th and 16th arrondissements.
Named after General François Séverin Marceau (1769–1796), it runs from Avenue du Président-Wilson (almost parallel with the Place de l'Alma) to Place Charles de Gaulle. It was originally decreed on 13 August 1854 and only ran between the Rue Circulaire and then-Place de l'Étoile before being extended as far as Avenue de l'Empereur by decree of 6 March 1858. It was named Avenue Joséphine after Joséphine de Beauharnais by the 1858 decree before being given its present name by another decree of 16 August 1879, which also renamed Rue de Wattignies the existing Rue Marceau in the 12th arrondissement.
➡️ The Avenue George V is a street in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. It starts at Place de l'Alma, and ends at No. 99 avenue des Champs-Elysées. It marks the western limit of Paris's "golden triangle" (triangle d'or). Until 14 July 1918, the avenue was called Avenue d'Alma. It received its current name in honour of the British monarch George V, who was on the throne at the time, and fought with the Allies during the First World War.
