Heroes in History: Hitokiri

Some warriors do not fight for money or fame or even honor. They fight because they enjoy killing...because life is a falsehood and they will free the weak and pitiful souls who continue to stumble through it. In For Honor, the Hitokiri are such warriors, former executioners turned psychopaths who haunt the battlefield with their giant axe, butchering anyone who dares challenge them. But who are they based on?
Journey with me to the Bakumatsu where we look at Japans "Four Horsemen of the Bakumatsu" known simply as "The 4 Hitokiri." We'll explore who they were, how they rose to prominence, and what became of them. We'll explore some pop culture references from the hitokiri, and...the ultimate question: what the heck is that crazy hair hat the For Honor Hitokiri wears?
