What is a corked wine ?
The term “corked wine” refers to wine that has been contaminated by trichloroanisole, or TCA. This chemical compound, which is caused by mould in corks or wood, unpleasantly alters a wine’s scent, aromas and flavours, to the point that it cannot be drunk because of a strong cork taste.
But, what to Do When You Encounter Corked Wine?
1️⃣ Reach out to the retailer, restaurant, or winery where it was purchased.
2️⃣ Explain the issue and offer to show the corked wine for verification.
3️⃣ Request a replacement, refund, or credit; most sellers will oblige.
Don’t worry It’s not harmful to humans if consumed, but it can spoil the wine.
