You can buy this song and the rest of my music here: faryafaraji.bandcamp.com/album/songs-of-old-iran-v… Please note that this isn’t an attempt at historical reconstruction of Parthian music, only modern Iranian music with an ancient theme. An original composition by Farya Faraji. Rhodogune was a Parthian woman, daughter of King Mithradates I of the Parthian Empire. She became Queen of the Seleucid Empire by marriage to Demetrius II Nicator, and is famous for having led a battle against rebels, having been informed in the middle of her bath, and vowing not to bathe or comb her hair until the battle was won. The melody wanders between the modal scales of Iranian music; it starts in Isfahan, then refers to the Western Aeolian mode, whilst the Santour solo in the middle is in the dastgāh of Segāh, which is microtonal and thus may sound unpleasant to unfamiliar ears.
