In fact, we live on the planet Water, not Earth, because water covers more than 70 percent of our globe.

Water is a bizarre world of paradoxes. Seemingly inconspicuous, yet it is a microcosm for science and one of the most puzzling substances.

It is one of the few substances that exist in three states of matter - solid, liquid and gas - in our environment.

Water is also the basis of life. That's why we're looking for ways to better manage it, conducting searches for it in the Earth's depths, thinking about technologies for extracting drinking water from the ocean and trying to find it in space.

This is necessary so that future generations can use it.
