Today we are doing not only the highest skydive in New Zealand but the highest skydive in the Southern Hemisphere with Skydive Franz Josef. It’s time to skydive at 19,000ft!
We head on over to the Skydive Franz Josef base where we are then transported to the Franz Josef airport. Here, we are briefed and suited up for tandem skydiving in Franz Josef.
The anticipation grows as we board the small aircraft with our tandem masters filming the entire thing for our skydive photo and video package. Then it’s up, up and away to 19,000ft.
On the flight over Franz Josef, we get some of the most incredible views for skydiving in New Zealand. We can see the Southern Alps, the highest peaks in New Zealand, the Franz Josef Glacier, the Fox Glacier and all the way out to the West Coast and the Tasman Sea. It’s one of the most scenic places to skydive in the world.
First to jump is Laura at 15,000ft, then Robin rises higher and higher to 19,000ft having to put on an oxygen mask before the jump.
Skydiving is the most insane feeling in the world and we love every second of this adrenaline-fuelled activity.
