Generally, professors travel anywhere from 2-50 times a year, depending on their preference for travelling and the status that they have in the academic field. Compared to industry, this amount of travel is relatively small. If you are a consultant or a senior level manager, you will expect to fly about 1-3 times per week, depending on the project.

When professors fly, do professors fly business class? Generally, no. Most professors are funded by the state, and flying business class appears to be not a good use of tax dollars money. Do professors supplement their flight class with their own funds or points? Absolutely. Many people will fly business class if they are going overseas, or if they have a long haul flight.

When do professors fly more than other times? Generally, professors will fly more in the summer, when they are teaching at a foreign university, or when they are doing data collection for a project they are working on.

How do professors reduce the amount of time that they travel? Many professors will say no to travel by getting their doctoral students to travel for them, or by making arrangements that allow them to work from home.

In sum, most professors are budget-focused and try to limit the amount that they spend on flights.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.

https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform

A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.

The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
