Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is an under-construction 575 kilometre long access controlled expressway, which will connect New Delhi with Amritsar in Punjab and Katra in Jammu & Kashmir. It will be constructed as part of the Bharatmala project. The project is expected to cost Rs 60,000 crore.
This greenfield expressway will reduce the current Delhi-Katra distance from 727 km to 575 km, allowing commuters to cover this distance within 5 to 6 hours.
Delhi-Katra Expressway now includes 2 sections. One is Delhi-Amritsar and other is Delhi-Katra. The merging point of both is Kartarpur in Kapurthala district on existing Amritsar Delhi Highway. Also the Expressway will have new greenfield stretch from Amritsar city to Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar
