There are many ways that you can enjoy this ingredient! This time, we are going to show you the recipe of Lu-Rou-Fan, a Taiwanese dish which is also well-known in Japan. This simple recipe enables you to make the dish with an authentic taste that is similar to the flavor you’ll have in restaurants or at street vendors.

By the way, we used minced pork, but if you want to use chicken, it will definitely taste good as well! Let’s start cooking!

【Ingredients】

Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients: 2 servings
Level: ★★☆

Minced pork…200g
Bamboo shoots (boiled) …100g
Shiitake mushrooms…2
Bok choy (or Japanese mustard spinach)…1 bunch
Japanese leek…10cm
Ginger…1 slice
Garlic…1 clove
Eggs…2
White sesame seeds…as needed
Five-spice powder…as needed

【A】
Oyster sauce…2 tbsp
Soy sauce…2 tbsp
Cooking sake…2 tbsp
Sugar…2 tbsp
Water…150ml

【Method】
1) Slice the leek in julienne. Mince ginger and garlic. Dice the shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots, boil and peel the egg. Cut the bok choy into 3~4cm long, and boil it for a short time.
2) Add some oil (not included in the ingredients above) into the frypan and heat it over low heat. Add ginger and garlic into the pan and stir-fry slowly.
3) Cook until fragrant, add minced pork then stir them together. Add five-spice powder.
4) Add shiitake and bamboo shoots after the color of the meat changes, then give them a nice stir.
5) After all the ingredients are coated in oil, add【A】and boiled egg into the pan, mix them thoroughly. Bring it to a boil, then use tin foil or so as a lid, simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn the egg now and then while simmering.
6) Serve on a plate with rice. Thicken the rest of the sauce by simmering it for a little while. Top the plate with bok choy and leek julienne, sprinkle white sesame seeds on the top.
