Homemade Cheez Whiz Recipe- copycat cheese spread recipe

I've had this hand written recipe for at least 20 years sitting in a notebook.  I have no idea where it comes from but I'm glad I tried it!

Full recipe:
1 lb cheddar cheese cut into small pieces
2 cups canned milk (I used evaporated whole milk)
1.5 tsp salt  (to taste, see note below)
1.5 tsp dry mustard powder
2 beaten eggs

Melt milk, salt, mustard, cheese together in a medium sized saucepan over medium low heat.
Stir about a cup of the hot mixture into the beaten eggs and then add the egg mixture back to the pot.
Continue to cook over medium low heat until thickened, it should NOT come to a boil (it may curdle if it does).
Pour into jars or containers and allow to cool.
Store in the refrigerator.

*NOTE this is a bit on the salty side if your cheese is salty to begin with.  I recommend adding the salt after you melt everything and taste it first.
