Hemodialysis is a medical procedure.  It's one of the ways you can treat severe kidney disease and the way that hemodialysis works it that you can use an artificial kidney to replace some of the functions of a healthy kidney.
Blood is taken out of the body, goes through the dialysis machine, goes through the filter, is cleaned and then goes back into the person.   So you don't really lose any blood.  It all goes through the dialysis machine, gets cleaned and then it comes back into the body.
