This video may have only taken me one "take" to record, but it took me about 20 years to accumulate the experience to write and share this with you today. After a very long season of total singleness, due in large part to beliefs that I learned at church, I finally broke out and began to experience freedom to date and relate to men. In rethinking some of the extreme aspects of these views, I was "healed" of my chronic singleness and ushered into a new season of growth and hope! This video is going to seem "controversial" to some believers, for different reasons, depending on each person's church background, as well as dating success (or lack, thereof, lol.)
Therefore, as you consider leaving a comment, please take a moment to think about whether your comment will be helpful and uplifting in nature, or whether it is to correct or debate what is being presented. My goal here is to provide perhaps more realistic and balanced ideas for hurting and frustrated, single, Christian women to consider as they reflect on their dating journey, so that they no longer let:
1. "super-spiritual" advice
2. a lack of practical dating instruction
3. standards that are set too high for most men
4. an extreme view of abstinence
5. a lack of men in church
6. fears of marriage being an "idol," and
7. an over-emphasis on being "equally yoked"
get in their way of finding REAL love with a REAL man. :)
