♪ Today debuted on January 14th, 1952. Like the current studio, the first set was streetside with people looking in. The first show had a relaxed, easy going style that made it popular with viewers.

♫ "The Mission" is four parts of music composed by John Williams for the NBC television network in 1985.

♪ "The Mission" composition was used as the theme for NBC's Nightly News,Today, Before Hours and Meet the Press in America. Outside the US, the theme was remixed for Channel 7 news in Australia. (go to my favourites to hear it!).
