How to write syncopated rhythms. Syncopated rhythms add a great deal of interest and character to a piece of music but when should we write them and how do we write them? This music composition lesson shows two very different musical contexts, one by Bach and the other by Scott Joplin. Having explored the effectiveness of the syncopation in these two works the video goes on to look at a short passage of music and shows you how to revolutionise the impact of it through the addition of syncopation.
