In this video I'm harvesting Watermelon. This Watermelon is a Crimson Sweet. It was so big I thought it was a tender orange. Some people have a hard time knowing when to harvest a Watermelon. So here are some tips to help with picking one when it's ripe. The first indicator the Watermelon is ready for harvesting is the dry tendril. When the tendril turns brown that is a strong indication the melon is ripe. The second indicator is yellowish color on the watermelon's belly. Combining those 2 indicators is strong evidence your melon is ready for picking. Cutting back on watering for a few days will help sweeten the taste of the watermelon. This included waiting for the rainy day to pass. I could have picked this watermelon over a week ago. I think it was worth the wait because the watermelon was so sweet. The sugars in the watermelon gets sweeter because of cutting back on the water. The watermelon weighed 30.2 pounds. I encourage everyone to grow some food. If I can grow some food like this watermelon then anyone can. I really believe that so use these tips and you will do well.
