Thanksgiving Turkey | Buttery Injection Smoked Turkey

Thanksgiving TurkeyIt's getting close to
Thanksgiving Turkey
It's getting close to Thanksgiving and I will be smoking a Thanksgiving Turkey. This recipe is very simple, easy, and basic as far as the buttery injection and smoking of the turkey! I will be using #themeatstick to monitor the internal temperature of this cook. I also connect the Meatstick WIFI bridge in case I need to go to the store. That way I can continue to monitor the temperature while I'm at the store.
BUTTERY INJECTION:
1 1/2 Sticks of butter
1 tsp of Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Onion powder
1 tsp of Creole seasoning ( I use Tony Chachere's creole seasoning)
Bring to a simmer allowing the ingredients to dissolve as much as possible.
(Note: it will not all dissolve completely)
Inject into Turkey all over as many places as possible... Legs, Breasts, Thighs, and Wings.
Other Seasonings I used on the outside of the Turkey:
Leftover Buttery Injection mix (Rubbed all over turkey)
Creole Seasoning (lightly dusted over bird)
SPG
Adkins Chicken and Pork rub
SMOKER:
Pellets I used for smoking: Pecan and Apple (I mixed the two together).
I set the smoker to 300° for the first 1 1/2 hours and then 350° the remaining time. (It was very cold outside so, I kicked the smoker up to 350° )
I programmed the Meastick for 167° internal so to notify me the Turkey was done, and at this point to keep an eye on the internal temperature as we went to 170° internal. Once it reached 170° I removed it from the smoker and let it rest for about 20 minutes before carving.
