When you're a well-known public figure, extra security measures are often needed. And that’s why the Royal Family has a set of codenames they can use when they’re out and about.
When Prince William and Princess Catherine were known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they reportedly went by the names Daphne Clark and Danny Collins while travelling. This was because the initials were both DC, which represented the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
And while living in north Wales shortly after marrying William, Kate reportedly used the name ‘Mrs Cambridge’ to reserve an item at a local shop.
It’s even been reported that the late Queen opted for some interesting codenames, and when out and about, she was referred to as 'Sharon' or simply just 'S', standing for sovereign, when her handlers were communicating with each other.
