This OBS Studio guide is to teach you how to use the built in replay buffer and setting hotkeys to create your own instant replays!
How to in steps!
1: Open settings go to 'Output' and set mode to Advanced.
2: While in settings and set your 'Recording File Path' destination.
3: Go to 'Replay Buffer' tab click 'Enable Replay Buffer' and set recording time in seconds. Everyone computer is different find out what best works for you, I suggest 30-60 seconds.
4:Go to 'Advanced' - Change 'Filename Formatting' to blank.
5 Check 'Overwrite if file exists'.
6: Change 'Replay Buffer Filename Prefix to "Instant Replay".
7: Go to 'Hotkeys' and set the same hotkey for "Start and Stop Replay Buffer".
8: Set a different hotkey for "Save Replay".
9: Start your replay buffer in OBS menu (below 'start recording') then press the 'Save Replay' hotkey to create your Instant Replay save file.
10: In your scene of OBS, add a "Media Source" source. Title it "Instant Replay" In the window that opens, In local file click 'browse' and find the file path you set your for buffer replay and make sure you only have "Show nothing when playback ends" and "Close file when inactive" Checked.
11: Go to Hotkeys, scroll down and find the source you made "Instant replay" Set a hotkey for 'Restart' and 'Stop' Click apply and okay. Test your hotkeys your set, your video should play.
SECOND SOLUTION IF STEP 11 DOES NOT WORK (OPTIONAL)
Right click your instant replay source and go to properties and check "Restart Playback when source becomes active".
Go to 'Settings' and back to 'Hotkeys' and scroll down until you find the Scene that has your instant replay Source and set the same hotkey for "Show" and "Hide". Press hotkey and test.
