In 1994 GWR 'Castle' class 4-6-0 no. 5029, 'Nunney Castle' was to operate two excursions over the Settle and Carlisle route. In order to familiarise the northern crews with the strange beast, BR arranged for her to move to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for several days of driver training. I have included a few shots at the start of the video from one of those runs before the loco is seen on 12th.February 1994 slogging north at Horton in Ribblesdale and then crossing Dandry Mire viaduct at Garsdale and finally, departing Appleby. The return run on 12th.March sees the train at Keld near Appleby and then at Smardale just before the loco sadly came to a stand with steaming problems and diesel assistance had to be called.
