1947. Ganin is a former famous military correspondent, who did not find his place in peacetime. On the day of his 35th birthday, Ganin receives a letter announcing the death of his father. Ganin never knew him, however, due to circumstances, he goes to the post-war Vyborg, where he finds out that his father's death was violent. Investigating the facts of his father's death, Ganin meets the captain of the local criminal investigation department Kazantsev. Together they are to solve more than one crime.
