Storyline..
Sherpal (Ulhas) and Tailab (Manmohan Krishan) are chiefs of two opposing clans who regularly meet at an annual competition that highlights their combative strengths in fields of weaponry. Sherpal's daughter Angara (Sandhya) is a tomboy who has been taught all that is required for the competition. She defeats Vikram (Prashant) who is from the clan of Taibal. The two fall in love, but cannot marry due to the old feud. Angara's mother (Lalita Pawar) is after her to behave like a girl and dress accordingly. She finally gives in to her mother's demands. When her father dies, Mangal (M. Rajan) appears claiming to be her betrothed, chosen by her father. When things start taking a violent turn, she agrees to marry him. Mangal then treats her badly after marriage. Angara suffers the humiliation and even carries a heavy weight across the desert, a punishment meted out to her by Mangal. As she trudges through the desert, she comes across a dying Vikram, who asks for water. She attempts to give him water against her husband's wishes, and is shot by Mangal. Angara and Vikram die together.

Ramlal .. A unsung Genius !
Ramlal Choudhry is one the forgotten musical talents of the film industry. In 1944, he arrived in Mumbai and started working as an assistant to music director Ram Ganguly in Prithviraj Kapoor's Prithivi Theatre Group. There, he played the flute on tracks like 'Dekh Chaand Ki Aor' sung by Shamshad Begam and Shailesh, 'Jindaa Hoon is Tarah Ki Ghame Zindagi' sung by Mukesh, 'Raat Ko Jo Chamake Taare' sung by Shamshad Begam and Mukesh, and 'Kaahe Koyaliyaa Shor Machaae Re', sung by Shamshad Begam.
His began his career as an independent music director in 1950, in producer P. L. Santoshi's Tangaawalla starring Raj Kapoor-Vaijayantimala. He recorded six songs for this film. Unfortunately for him the movie was never released.
Choudhry continued to play the flute and shehnai in a number of movies. He got another opportunity to work as a music director for the Baal Hardeep produced film, Husnbaano. The film was successful and earned him recognition. His songs Yaa Nabeeb Salaam Lai Jaa and Pyaar Karane Ka Ayaa Jamaana became hit songs. Subsequently, he worked for producer-director V. Shantaram's Sehara. In 1965, the film Geet Gaaya Pattharon Ne showcased his musical brilliance. 'Tere Khayalo Mein Hum' sung by Asha Bhosle, 'Saanson Ke Taar Par' and 'Dhadakan Ki Taal Par' sung by Asha Bhosle and Mahendra Kapoor, became hit songs.
Unfortunately, Ramlal Choudhry soon was out of work due to the scheming of some powerful music directors and renowned producers. He decided to produce his own film with a partner, Charles. He started the film, Tyagi under the banner 'Panna Pictures' but sadly for Choudhry, the partner left him stranded. Choudhry lost a lot of money and a whisper campaign started in the industry maligning his career as a producer. He didn't work again in the industry.

Did You Know?
Besides Geet Gaya Pattharone, this was Ramlal's only other film with V.Shantaram.
In Sehara, he worked with santoor exponent Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and in Geet Gaaya Pattharon Ne- flute maestro Pandit Hariprashad Chaurasiya
Music Director Ramlal also played the shehnai on film soundtracks like Aag, Mughal-e-Aazam and Navrang.
