For the last 15 years, I've treated drop-d tuning like it was the plague. I rarely committed to songs that required it, and even when I did venture to its shores – I couldn't get back to standard tuning quick enough.
But over the past week, I've turned over a new leaf.
While learning Rocky Mountain High (which is in drop-d), I decided to keep my guitar there – and forced myself to play around. Explore. Have some fun. See what new things I could have fun with. In the end, a lot of fun stuff was discovered.
In this video, I'll share some of the riffs, tips, techniques, and other cool stuff I picked up along the way. I am by no means an expert in the land of drop-d, but I do feel confident that a lot of these nuggets of guitar goodness may be helpful to you too!
