Autel Scantool (ms906bt) graph merge FTW! - 2010 Chevy Impala 3.5 - P2138 - APP Correleation

Autel has a nice feature when you're viewing live data. You can select multiple PIDS, view them as graphs then merge them so they're all on one graph. It makes looking for dropouts or glitches much nicer. This video is mainly to show that feature. The scantool I have is the Autel ms906bt.

2010 Chevy Impala 3.5 with the check engine light, abs/traction lights, engine power is reduced message and service stabilitrack message. Relevant codes were:

ECM
P2138 - Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) (sensor 1-2) correlation

ABS:
C0242:71 - ECMPCM indicated TCS invalid serial data received


On systems that have electric throttle bodies there will be two sensors for the throttle and the pedal. That way they can correlate the two and tell if there is a fault. Sometimes there will be a hard fault that'll set right away and other times it's just a worn contact somewhere within its range. So with the key on and the engine off (KOEO) you view the live data and perform a full sweep slowly and look for dropouts or glitches. On this vehicle the glitches started around 60+ percent throttle. Since they're at only specific positions it's just a matter of a bad part. Install a new part then verify the fix. Good to go!
