It's very natural when learning
It's very natural when learning a skill to focus on the tools that you will be using. Mastery of technique, of course, comes from using tools as we learn and grow, but we may fall into a trap of believing it is the tool that makes the technique. A better way to look at learning photography is to try to understand why we use a certain tool, this will open our minds to other ways to create. Thus, knowing the why allows us to know how (tools).
