يعتبر الاقبال على تربية طائر السمان ظاهرة جديدة في تونس، حيث التجأ عدد كبير من السيدات والشباب العاطل عن العمل إلى إنشاء مشاريع في هذا المجال نظرا لعدم تطلبه رأس مال كبير ولا تقنيات معقدة حيث يتشابه في تربيته مع الدجاج، فالشابة منال اختارت إطلاق مشروعها في تربية السمان والذي وصفته بالمشروع الصغير والناجح مؤكدة أنها استطاعت توسيع مشروعها من ستة طيور إلى أربعة آلاف طير خلال أربع سنوات، ويشهد بيض طيور السمان ولحومها إقبال متزايد داخل المجتمع التونسي نظرا لفوائده الصحية، فهو منصوح باستهلاكه طبيا للمصابين بأمراض ضغط الدم والسكري، كما له فوائد عدة لصحة الأطفال والرضع، بحسب مربية الطيور.

Raising quails has been witnessing a boom in Tunisia as many unemployed youths especially women are making their livings through raising these birds. Such a business is no different from chicken breeding as it doesn't necessitate a lot of money or advanced equipment. Manal, is a young lady that started a business to raise quails. Her project was a story of success as she began with six birds and ended with 4000 only within a span of 4 years. Given the health benefits of quails and their eggs, people purchase them regularly. They are of high importance to patients with diabetes and high blood pressure (or hypertension), not to mention the benefits children and babies get from this highly nutritious food
