Key Points:
• Waiting until your baby is developmentally ready to start solid foods (solid foods include purées!)
• Use a baby led feeding approach
• Focus on purées as a transitional food
• Transitioning to lumpy foods before 10 months (and ideally earlier) is important to prevent texture aversions
• Purées can be a great addition to any baby meal, especially as a kcal (Calorie) booster, a sauce, or a dip
• Pouches: a great tool to use, but try not to rely on them all the time
• Babies fed purées do not have a statistically lower risk for choking than babies fed soft, whole table foods (#science)
• The way you feed your baby is not a reflection of your parenting abilities ❤️

Homework:
• If you choose to start with purees, evaluate where you can add texture.  For example, cottage cheese and guacamole are GREAT ways to introduce lumpy textures early.
• If you choose to start with whole foods, use purées to augment baby's meals and add extra calories!
