This video is a recitation of comments by Sampa Biswas, the author of "Fudo Myo-O (Acalanatha Vidyaraja) in Art and Iconography of Japan" (D.K. Printworld, 2011), along with some photos from his book.

Esoteric Buddhism is also known as Vajrayana (Diamond Vehicle), or Shingon, or Tantrayana, or Mantrayana, or Tantric Buddhism. Mantras serve a central role in this school. A mantra is considered to be a sacred formula and a deeply personal ritual, effective only after initiation.

There are thirteen mantras used in Shingon (Japanese Esoteric) Buddhism, each dedicated to a major deity. The mantra for Fudo Myo-o is " nōmaku samanda bazaratan senda makaroshada sowataya untarata kanman".
