How to remove a broken VVT-i solenoid oil control valve stuck in engine block on Scion Xb

Check engine light on my 2006 Scion Xb produced a P0012 code. This showed up intermittently although the engine seemed to be running fine. The solution is to replace the VVTi solenoid oil control valve and clean the tiny screen behind the hex cap that lies below it. However, the solenoid broke when trying to remove it. The video shows how to remove a stubborn solenoid. Don't forget to clean the screen! Mine was totally blocked. My brother is a genius mechanic!
