Fastboot Mode - How to Boot the Redmi Note 9, 9S, & 9...
1. Intro [00:00]
2. Open the Settings application [02:08]
3. Scroll down and tap the "Mi Account" option [02:20]
4. Log into your Xiaomi Mi account [02:45]
5. Make sure Xiaomi "Sync" and "Find Device" options are enabled [03:10]
6. Head back into the "Developer Options" section of the Settings app [04:40]
7. Enable the "OEM Unlocking" toggle [04:55]
8. Go into the "Mi Unlock Status" section of the Developer Options page [05:25]
9. Disable WiFi and then turn on Mobile Data [05:35]
10. Then tap the "Add Account and Device" button at the bottom [05:50]
11. Wait for Xiaomi to associate the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S or 9 Pro to your Mi Account [06:45]
12. Download and open the Mi Unlock Tool linked above [07:17]
13. Log into your Mi Account through the PC tool [07:30]
14. Boot the Redmi Note 9 into Fastboot Mode [07:42]
15. Then connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable
16. Click the "Unlock" button at the bottom of the Mi Unlock Tool [08:15]
17. Confirm both "are you sure" boxes that pop up
18. And wait for the Mi Unlock Tool to verify your smartphone [08:50]
19. Lastly, we need to wait (however many hours the tools says) before we use the Unlock Tool again so it will finally unlock the bootloader of the Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 Pro.
We need to unlock the Redmi Note 9 bootloader if we want to modify the Android software. So to do that, we first need to request permission to unlock the bootloader itself.
This process requires a SIM card with a mobile service that includes data, a Mi account, and then waiting a certain number of days. Xiaomi wants to gate this process with a delay to make sure we aren't resellers putting other software on the phone before selling it to the community en masse.

As you can see, I'm being told to wait 7 days after this initial request. So once that time passes I can open the Mi Unlock took again, click the Unlock button, and then the company will allow the bootloader to be unlocked.
