Stock Table - How to read a stock table.

You can use stock tables to monitor your stocks’ performance. The stock tables are loaded with information that can help you become a better trader.

For this particular video I used Yahoo Finance's Stock table: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=aep&ql=1

Here’s what each column means:


Name and Symbol: This column tells you the company name and the stock symbol.

Price: The current price. $ change: The amount of Dollars or cents it has moved today. % change the percentage it has changed from the previous day.

Previous close: This column tells you how trading ended for a particular stock on the day represented by the table.

Open: Price the stock opened this morning at 9:30am EST.

Bid: Price people are willing to pay to buy this stock.

Ask: Price people are willing to sell this stock

1y Target Est. Where analysts expect it to trade in a year.

Beta: The speed this stock moves vs. the market.

Earnings date: The date it'll report last quarters earning, the money it has earned (or lost).

Day's Range: The range between the lowest price the stock reached today to the highest price it reached today.

52wk Range: The lowest price the stock has reached within the past 52wks and the highest price it has reached.

Volume: This column tells you how many shares of that particular stock were traded that day.

Avg Vol (3m): This column tells you the average volume (per day) this stock has traded within the last 3 months.

Market Cap: The amount of money the company is worth on the market. http://www.nasdaq.com/investing/gloss...

P/E: This column indicates the ratio between the price of the stock and the company’s earnings. This ratio is frequently used to determine whether a stock is a good value.

EPS: This column indicates what are the stocks "earnings per share".

Div & Yield: The amount you see is the annual dividend quoted as if you owned one share of that stock. The yield is calculated by dividing the annual dividend by the current stock price.
