This is simple demonstration of a chinese xun built by me in 2013-2014.
Xun is an acient chiense music instrument. Its history is over 6000 years. An acient piece is made by stone or clay and has pretty narrow tone range. The modern Xun has improved the tone range to 8-10 degree. However, the sound production in higher tones is always problematic.
I've studied this instrument over years and try to solve the problem of the sound production in higher tones by hand-made technique. I built this piece by glazed clay and tuned it in C. It has 9 finger holes for very wide tone range from C to high bE. By changing the blow angle one can get the lowest tone to low A. As you can see in my viedeo, this piece is chromatic. One has no broblem playing a major or a minor scale. The sound production in high tone range is also fine.
