One of the most anticipated news headlines Rivian preorder holders and fans have been waiting to see is the official EPA range reports. Those reports are out. The long-awaited EPA range and efficiency ratings for the upcoming Rivian R1T all-electric pickup and Rivian R1S SUV are in, and some details are pretty surprising.

In both cases, the R1T electric adventure truck and the R1S electric adventure SUV, the EPA Combined range rating for the Launch Edition versions, with "Large Pack" and 21-inch wheels are about 5% better than Rivian's initial in-house range estimate of 300 miles (483 km).
The Rivian R1T will be able to go 314 miles or 505 km on a single charge, while the Rivian R1S will go up to 316 miles or 508 km on a single charge. Other versions might get different results based on their battery size, weight, and other factors.
Battery capacities of 135 kWh power these ranges according to initial spec details from Rivian, but the EPA data suggests a battery capacity of 144 kWh total. The other battery options are expected to be 105 kWh and 180 kWh.
