Two separate cicada broods emerging: When are the cicadas coming in 2024?

The Great Southern Brood Cicadas and Northern Illinois Brood Cicadas are both emerging in 2024. The last time these two groups emerged together? 1803, when Thomas Jefferson was president! They aren't expected to co-emerge again for about another 221 years, so this is a big deal. Virginia won't see much of an overlap; most will be from the Great Southern Vrood, but some states will see both. The cicadas will emerge across 17 states from late April to June 2024.
