Hi everyone!

On my recent adventures into old paper crafts, I came across the Victorian cobweb card trend. I was fascinated by this delicate craft & decided I need to do a video on these!

An image, usually a woman or flowers, are hidden by an intricate cobweb. Skilled crafters made these at home but were also produced by factories in later years. If you search for "Victorian cobweb cards" on Google, you will find some amazing examples of these intruiging cards.
They were used for birthdays, but also for random expressions of love and adoration for the receiver.

Find a cute image, cut it in a circle and glue it onto some heave card stock or directly print a vintage image on some heave card stock.

By using a thin paper circle (like printer paper or a doily), you can fold and cut the cobweb easily. After you have finished your cobweb, thread a string to it, tie with a knot and glue the cobweb on the image (only glue the outer circle). Put something heavy on top of the cobweb to flatten it out and make the cobweb more surprising when gently pulling the string.

The Met Museum website has a great blog with beautiful, authentic cobweb card photos for you to get some inspiration!
